Magnificent Muster

Sunday, a quiet day  in Munster, where most shops are closed to provide time to spend relaxing in parks & on the bike paths, was an enjoyable introduction to Germany and our district District 1870 Rotarians, including Gregor Bothe and Christian Schucking who were our informative and entertaining hosts today.

My Sunday begun with me biking through the city, on a bike that was too tall, which presented a few “almost” embarrassing moments while navigating through bike lanes or bumping along on cobblestone roads willed with intense bikers. Munster is made for biking–our hosts indicated that they can go weeks without starting their car! I was provided with a bike so I could navigate the relatively flat terrain and bike friendly city roads to get myself to our vocational or cultural destinations.  I am hoping my Canadian flag decorating my backpack will serve as an explanation as I wobble through the city! It is my hope to be mistaken for a native biker by the end of the week!

The team spent an afternoon with Gregor & Christian riding on the lake in a solar powered boat, walking through the park enjoying the public art and the lush greenery and visiting fabulous museums. A wonderful welcome to Muster to be sure!
