Medicos Gelsenkirchen

Wednesday was our only vocational day this week. I visited Medicos, a rehabilitation company that is part-owned by the Falkers 04 team. I was a little nervous to visit a rehabilitation program because I know nothing about rehab, but it turned out to be a very valuable tour. Yvonne was my host for the day and her job is almost identical to mine at home. She does all the Communications for the company including their website, social media, press releases, and marketing. So after a tour of their huge facility we had some valuable conversation comparing notes and marketing strategies between our two jobs. Their facility offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, cardiac and pulmonary rehab, and specialized rehab for soccer players, ballet dancers, and others. They also have a full gym and pool area available for a monthly membership. I also got to co-teach a 4-6 year old swimming class. Their pool is surprisingly warm and has the ability to move the floor to be whatever depth is needed. The kids were told that I don’t speak German, but they talked to me anyway.
After the pool I was treated to a private training session with their exercise specialist, Caroline. She helped me target my back pain and assured me that I would be feeling it the next day. In Germany they call muscle soreness a “muscle cat”.
I had a great meeting with the CEO before heading back to an amazing BBQ hosted by the rotary club’s president. They have an amazing garden with the perfect setting for entertaining and we had delicious tomato soup, lasagna, peach bellinis, and homemade riesling.

It sounds like a very good vocational day Lindsey! Thanks for the update! Raining here, the Team here was planning on golfing but they probably won’t today!
