MediaDesign Hochschule, Dusseldorf

Today was our first full day with the Willich Rotary Club. We are off to a great start with three vocational days planned. Today I was greeted by Juliane vonFurstenberg and Professor Christine Putz. They showed me around the MediaDesign Hochschule (private college) in Dusseldorf. This school offers courses in game design, graphic design, media design & fashion design. I got to see a few of the projects that the students were working on and they are truly talented. I wish I had time to sit in on some classes – I could learn a few things!
The fashion design students were woking on creating pieces from upcycled products (paper, used clothing, even duct tape). A few of the media design students were working on their final project (shown below). They had to create a room depicting the life of an artist. They could choose from 4 artists and have $250 to spend on supplies – not including sponsored or donated items. The 3 rooms that I saw were very creative, and I could tell a lot of work was going into them. They have 2 weeks left to finish them.
The graphic design class that I saw was working on their portfolios. They had some really talented students and they projects looked really fun. They had designed movie posters, product design, and even done entire campaigns from start to finish.
MediaDesign has schools in Dusseldorf, Berlin & Munich and guarantees no more than 20 students per class. I am very impressed with their students work and hope to see them all out in the business world soon.
